My flat has a leaky roof, and when it rains, water drips all over the floor in the kitchen. What are my landlord's obligations in terms of fixing it?

The landlord has to keep the flat in a reasonable state of repair having regard to the age and character of your flat. Click here to read more: www.communitylaw.org.nz. You can give your landlord a 14 day notice to fix the leak and then if the landlord doesn't fix it you can go to mediation to talk about options - for example you could ask for the landlord to fix the leak and to reduce your rent until it is fixed.
