Question Details: My friend recently split from her de facto partner. They have a shared care agreement in place for their children but her partner is increasingly failing to comply with it. My friend had to go on a benefit when her partner left her as she had supported him while he built up his career. He has a new partner, home and secure income. My friend is struggling on her own and is afraid that her ex-partner may take custody of their children. She has applied for legal aid but requires access to legal representation and advice. Can you recommend a legal service in Auckland for her?

It seems that your friend has already found a lawyer. You mention that your friend has applied for legal aid. Applications for family legal aid are made through the lawyer who will do the work if legal aid is granted, so you can assume that your friend has found a lawyer.
If she does not get legal aid, she might want to head along to her local community law centre to ask about her local options. Information about community law centres throughout Aotearoa can be found here: www.communitylaw.org.nz
