Question Details: I have a company vehicle in a situation where I agreed to a lower salary as my contract states that I could use the car for work and personal use. My company is downgrading the type of vehicle they are providing. Do I have any legal standing to request improvements to my remuneration given the lower standard of vehicle I am now provided?

The answer to this will largely depend on your employment agreement and what it states about the vehicle. However, it appears the vehicle is a component of your remuneration, and if that is so a reduction in the quality of the vehicle, without your agreement, is akin to a reduction in wages. This is a tangible disadvantage that you could take action over in the form of a personal grievance for unjustified disadvantage. We suggest you first raise this matter with your employer, and if that is not successful then you should consider taking further advice. Please note that you will have 90 days from when the action occurs (the changing of the vehicle) to raise a personal grievance.
