In general, you will have to disclose your conviction for careless driving on future visa applications. Whether it will affect your ability to travel depends on the laws of the country you are planning to travel to, so we cannot advise you about that.
You will also have to disclose your conviction on job applications if you are asked. However, depending on when you received the careless driving conviction and whether you went to prison for it, you may not have to mention your in future job applications in New Zealand under the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004. For information on whether the Act applies to your situation, click here: www.justice.govt.nz
The Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004 does not apply to visa applications or to job applications for foreign countries, so you will need to disclose your conviction in those circumstances. How the conviction will affect your ability to travel or find employment overseas will be at the discretion of the relevant country or employer.
