Question Details: I have been a victim of crime. Although the perpetrators have been punished through the courts, along with their the families they are continuing to verbally harass me. They are saying that it was worth the punishment to get at me and such like. Is there anything I can do to make this stop?

Yes, you can get a restraining order against them. If you have been harassed at least twice within 12 months, you can apply to the District Court for a restraining order against them. A restraining order will state that a person must not threaten or harass you or encourage any other person to harass you.
To get a restraining order, you will need to show the Court that it is more likely than not that you have been harassed and need a restraining order for your protection. For specific information about applying for a restraining order, click this link: www.communitylaw.org.nz

Another thing you can do is tell the Police that you are being verbally harassed. Verbal harassment is an offence, and they could be prosecuted for it.
